Christ's "coronation hymn"

This hymn, titled "The Coronation Hymn of Christ," was written by the Rev. Edward Perronet in 1779, to a tune composed by a carpenter by the name of Oliver Holden. Perronet wrote many hymns, but according to author William Lee Hunton ("Favorite Hymns" 1917), "... he wrote only one really great hymn. That hymn was enough; the man did not live in vain who taught Christ's Church her grandest coronation hymn in honor of her King."

All hail the power of Jesus' name!
Let angels prostrate fall;
Bring forth the royal diadem,
And crown Him Lord of all.

Ye chosen seed of Israel's race,
Ye ransomed from the fall,
Hail Him who saves you by His grace,
And crown Him Lord of all.

Hail Him, ye heirs of David's line,
Whom David Lord did call;
The God incarnate, Man divine;
And crown Him Lord of all.

Ye Gentile sinners, ne'er forget
The wormwood and the gall;
Go, spread your trophies at His feet,
And crown Him Lord of all.

Let every kindred, every tribe,
On this terrestrial ball,
To Him all majesty ascribe,
And crown Him Lord of all.

Oh, that with yonder sacred throng
We at His feet may fall;
We'll join the everlasting song,
And crown Him Lord of all.

Matthew 27:11; Mark 15:2; Luke 23:3
Pilate (the governor) questioned him, and asked, 'Are you the King of the Jews?' And He answered him, 'It is as you say'."
